New IDTA Research Hub Semiconductor established in Dresden: Competence centre for the Industrial Digital Twin officially launched

The IDTA Research Hub Semiconductor, established on 27 February 2026, is creating a joint competency centre in Dresden dedicated to the industrial Digital Twin, based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). The aim is to systematically incorporate the specific requirements of the semiconductor industry into the further development and implementation of AAS solutions, thereby strengthening interoperability across the value chain.

IDTA at Hannover Messe 2026: Digital Twins as Enablers for Data Spaces, Industrial AI and the Digital Product Passport

From 20 to 24 April 2026 at the Hannover Messe, IDTA will demonstrate how the Asset Administration Shell (AAS), as a standardised Digital Twin, forms the basis for interoperable data exchange within industrial ecosystems. At the same time, it creates the conditions for the use of industrial artificial intelligence and the implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) by semantically contextualising data.

IDTA and IDSA are merging their expertise to bring industrial data exchange and the application of digital twins closer together in the future. The cooperation combines two central building blocks of the digital industry: While IDTA develops the standard for digital twins based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS), IDSA addresses interaction in decentralised data spaces with the standardisation of the Dataspace Protocol.
