More efficiency, productivity and compliance with sustainability goals in production thanks to the Digital Twin
The Asset Administration Shell in real implementation – 50 solutions from the industry at the Hannover Messe
Industrial Digital Twin Association e.V. (IDTA) will once again be at this year’s Hannover Messe from 22 to 26 April 2024, offering a point of contact for all information relating to the Digital Twin based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). Companies that are already familiar with implementing the AAS will be showcasing 50 solutions for more efficient and productive processes at Hannover Messe – eight solutions can be found at the IDTA stand in Hall 9, F27. Thanks to the standardised provision of data along the life cycle of a product, plant or machine or the entire factory, AAS enables time and cost savings and compliance with sustainability targets.
In hall 9, IDTA will be providing information on current topics from implementation and current projects to best practice examples of the AAS. Visitors receive information on AAS specifications and submodels, the project “Dataspace 4 Everybody” and open source activities. Eight co-exhibitors – Bosch Connected Industry, Class.Ing, D&TS, Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin, INTERX, Korean Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), M&M Software and objective partner – will be showcasing their individual AAS solutions and how their response to the requirements of industrial practice live at the booth.
The demonstrator “Simplified System Design based on AAS” by IDTA members msg systems, FESTO and CONTACT Software builds a data space based on the software CONTACT elements that allows multiple partner companies to develop a customised product. In the showcase at the IDTA booth, the visitor in the role of the customer of a mechanical engineering company designs a system supported of several component manufacturers which is automatically entered in an offer via the AAS. With a combination of specialist information, co-exhibitors with market-ready solutions and an explanatory demonstrator, the IDTA stand in Hall 9 is the information point for AAS at the Hannover Messe.
In hall 8, stand D26, IDTA will be exhibiting alongside Manufacturing-X, Catena-X, Gaia-X and other exhibitors at the joint stand of Plattform Industrie 4.0. With an interactive demonstrator, IDTA and its partners INspares, Xitaso, R.STAHL and smartTEC show how the Digital Product Passport (DPP4.0) can be successfully implemented thanks to the AAS. Information on various assets, including the product carbon footprint, is mapped along the entire value chain – from the manufacture of the component to its deployment in a machine and ongoing operation in the factory – and shared according to requirements.
The DPP4.0 already enables companies to fulfil the obligations resulting from the EU Ecodesign Regulation to create a framework for the definition of ecodesign requirements for sustainable products. Manufacturing companies must have developed Digital Product Passports by the end of 2026. In addition to interoperable data exchange, the DPP4.0 paves the way for new business models, services and products. The interactive demonstrator at the Hannover Messe allows visitors to experience the DPP4.0 based on the AAS from different perspectives and discover all the benefits first-hand.
Numerous other exhibitors at the Hannover Messe will be presenting the standardised Digital Twin in industrial implementation. The AAS Guide from IDTA takes visitors to a total of 50 exhibits that showcase a wide range of tools and applications and demonstrate the industrial maturity of the AAS. The AAS Guide will be distributed as a printed version at both IDTA stands and is available digitally in advance.
In addition, experts will provide information and discuss the Digital Twin and the Asset Administration Shell in numerous presentations on the Industry 4.0 Conference Stage and further stages. The AAS Guide provides a compact overview of the subject-related events.
