A notation of this kind has proved itself useful in the field of IP protection classes, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CP XY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Communication capability (X-digit)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>4 \u2013 capable of I4.0 conform communication<\/li><li>3 \u2013 capable of active communication<\/li><li>2 \u2013 capable of passive communication<\/li><li>1 \u2013 not capable of communication<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Degree of familiarity (Y-digit)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>4 \u2013 managed as entity<\/li><li>3 \u2013 individually known<\/li><li>2 \u2013 anonymously known<\/li><li>1 \u2013 unknown<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong> CP33, for example, corresponds to an individually known component actively capable of communication \u2013 in other words, for example, a classic Profibus field device.
