Open Industry 4.0 Sensor Demonstrator – Access to extensive information

The Asset Administration Shell provides all relevant data of sensors over the entire life cycle in standardized formats in a machine-readable format.

Information source for all use cases
Uniform and standardized data structures

Information source for all use cases

For the electrical detection of physical quantities, industrial sensors according to different operating principles are offered by a large number of manufacturers. However, the provision of machine-readable information on the sensors is neither standardized in form nor content. Well-known manufacturers of industrial sensors are working on machine-readable virtual representations of their products as a basis for Asset Administration Shells. The Asset Administration Shell provides all relevant data of sensors over the entire life cycle in standardized formats in machine-readable form and is thus the comprehensive source of information for further processing electronic systems in all use cases.
The demonstrator is intended to show the interoperable use of sensors from different manufacturers for selected use cases and to identify any gaps.

Function of the asset administration shell

Machine-readable virtual representations through the AAS

Uniform data structures

The AAS standardizes information in form and content and offers better comparability as well as higher data quality.

Interoperability

The AAS captures machine-readable information of sensors according to different operating principles from a variety of manufacturers.

Virtual commissioning

With uniform functionalities, the AAS enables the immediate virtual representation of products in advanced electronic systems.
