Industrial Digital Twin Association – the Digital Twin, the future of industry

The principle seems quite straightforward: The Digital Twin connects physical industrial products with the digital world. However, for the successful implementation and international dissemination of this core technology of Industry 4.0 in practice, a common understanding of all stakeholders in industry, associations and research is necessary.

We at IDTA act as a central point of contact for all interest groups. We provide the necessary specifications for the Asset Administration Shell and create and harmonise the submodels for the Industrial Digital Twin into the Big Picture.

Ramon Latorre, OMRON

At Omron, we want to collaborate in the IDTA as we believe that the adoption of Asset Admistration Shell is a necessary step to bring great new benefits to the digitalization of supply and engineering chains. Let’s work together to improve people’s lives and contribute to a better society, as our mission states.

Ramon Latorre, OMRON
Uwe Haas, Bosch

The AAS offers great potential for the entire supply chain. Our goal is to realize the data flow from suppliers to our customers as AAS models. Today, we can already offer more than 170 million Digital Twins of manufactured Rexroth products in an automated way.

Uwe Haas, Bosch
Gunther Koschnick, ZVEI e. V.

“ZVEI is leading the way with regard to the AAS, which it launched six years ago. Thanks to IDTA, we can now begin with operationalisation and have a central point of contact for the further development and international dissemination of the AAS.”

Dr Horst Heinol-Heikkinen, ASENTICS GmbH & Co. KG
Ernst Esslinger, Homag GmbH

“For us as a mechanical engineering company, it is becoming increasingly important to record data along a product life cycle digitally and document it in a standardised manner. The AAS as a Digital Twin lays the ideal foundations here, enabling us and our customers to achieve this quite easily.”

Ernst Esslinger, Homag GmbH
Burkhard Balz, Lenze SE

“The Digital Twin forms the basis for applications and services along the life cycle of devices and machines. Lenze sees a high potential here and supports the Digital Twin for its own components as well as for implementation on the OEM side.”

Burkhard Balz, Lenze SE
Hartmut Rauen, VDMA e.V.

“IDTA is the product of a joint initiative of VDMA, ZVEI and the Industry 4.0 platform. Our talent for global networking and implementation will give the idea of the Industrial Digital Twin room for operational implementation.”
